Getting a job has always been challenging.
I was lucky. I got a placement while at college.
That turned into a full time job.
Six months later I was made redundant.
One of the designer’s girlfriends was looking for a designer.
That led to a senior role.
The office manager moved to a bigger agency.
They needed someone more experienced.
I stepped in.
The design director later moved to a more successful creative agency.
They wanted a new design director.
I took the role.
I met a group of people.
We started a business.
It grew to a team of 25.
In ten years I went from leaving college to rebranding Ford Motor Company and running our own award winning agency.
Was it luck? Maybe.
But luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
I was given a chance. And that changed everything.
Now I’m asking if you’ll do the same.
This October we’re running a Business Management Careers Fair at Ravensbourne University.
Wednesday 15 October, 2.00 to 5.00 PM.
These are Business Management students looking for real-world experience. Some need short placements or shadowing opportunities of around 70 hours. Others just need to hear your story.
You can offer a placement, mentoring, a live brief, or simply show up and talk about your work.
If you’re not local, maybe you know someone in South East London, Greenwich, Lewisham, or nearby who could help. Please share this with them.
If you’d like more details, just reply to this email.
Are you ready to give someone a chance?
That’s how my journey began, and maybe yours too.
Enjoy your Quick PINT
