Launched in 2017, I’m nearly ten years late to the Substack party.

If you don’t know Substack, it’s “yet another content platform”.

I see it as somewhere between LinkedIn and Instagram. Business and thought-focused content, both short and long form, but a bit more visual and far less corporate feeling. You follow people and publications, discover new writers, and yes, you can pay for subscriptions to premium content.

I won’t be doing that. Knowledge doesn’t need paywalls.

But it intrigued me enough to start “yet another content channel”.

So what changed?
Why now?

A couple of months ago someone unsubscribed from the Quick PINT newsletter. Nothing wrong with that. It happens all the time and that’s fine. But I don’t track the numbers or check who’s reading every email, so this felt different.

The subscriber was one of my oldest friends. You know the type. Friends since college. Long evenings drinking too much in dodgy indie clubs. Meeting each other’s partners for the first time. Weddings. Christenings. Just there throughout life, even when you forget to check in often enough.

The type of friend who tells the brutal truth, even when you haven’t asked for it.

The exchange went something like this.

“I’ve unsubscribed from your newsletter by the way.”
“Oh really, why?”
“I like Quick PINT and always read it, but the last two in a row were about AI. They made me cross.”

And then I realised something.

Not everyone wants the same conversations. And AI in particular seems to split people emotionally.

Boomsters who think AI is the answer to everything.
Doomsters who think it’s the end of creativity altogether.

Most of us are probably somewhere in the middle.

So I started a Substack.

Untangle Your Brain.
A place to explore creativity, emotion, behaviour, and thinking in a world increasingly shaped by AI.

I’ll still be writing Quick PINT.
I’ll still be writing about brands and bands.
And yes, I’ll still occasionally write about AI in Quick PINT too. It would be strange not to.

Untangle Your Brain just gives those thoughts a little more room.

As a subscriber to my content, you’ll be automatically added. You can read everything, dip in occasionally, or unsubscribe at any time.

So enjoy your Quick PINT.

And if you fancy untangling your brain a little further, I’ll see you over on Substack.
