I drew this when I was about 8 years old.
What does it say about me?
There’s a bright red car (I’ve never owned a car), the glamour of New York (I lived in Yorkshire), the inclusion of Disco (I’m a passionate record collector but mainly Indie Rock). I didn’t know how to spell Guinness (I wasn’t old enough to drink) but clearly liked Coke and Pepsi.
I was fascinated by brands. And I still am.
I’ve been employed at leading brand agencies, managed my own companies, and now work directly with clients. I have been involved with some of the biggest rebrands (Ford Motor Company). I was part of the team that launched the world’s first 4G brand (Yota in Russia), and I have won awards for Brand Strategy, Brand Naming and Brand Architecture along the way.
The childlike wonder of brands has never diminished. I am definitely old enough to drink Guinness and I still draw with a slightly wobbly line.
Do you have something from your childhood that predicted your career path?
